Two ideas but which would be easiest to do?

    Hello

This is my first post and hopefully I will avoid sounding too vague.

I have two ideas but am unsure of the best way to go. I dont have unlimited funding, I can design (well develop) my own Joomla site (using templates) but my skills lay in other areas. and so while deciding which idea to go for, I am looking for a steer on the best way fro me to go.

Plan 1 - A new stock image site along the lines of Fotolia

Plan 2 - A new freelancer site like Guru or Freelancer

I dont really know what is needed in terms of programming, how do these sites work in the backend? do I need new code or would off the shelf scripts be ok.

It may well be that to create these kinds of sites will cost more than I have available, but right now, I am looking for any help really

    Thanks

I like plan 1 better than plan 2, basically because with 1 you can fill up the content yourself but not with plan 2

Thanks to both of you, but what Im really after is a steer on which may be easier/less expensive to create

I did find an off the shelf photo sales application last nights that seemed quite good, are there similar for the guru types of sites?

It all depends on your basic goal. To me, it sounds as if the goal is to make money, and the site is just a means to that end. Considering the work it takes to run most sites that return more than a few dollars, getting a job - any full-time job - would probably be a much better means to reach your goal. You'd make a lot more money, in a lot less time, with a lot less effort.

Plan 2 would be great for a long term approach

Plan 1 can work for short term though may also work for long term - depends on the trends & other marketable - s :)

    Thanks Rukbat

Your right my goal is to make money, I have always worked for myself. This coupled with the fact that these types of sites take more than a fair share (to my mind) of the pie. I would like to develop somthing that makes money (Im not looking for Trump money) but is a better deal for the users

Fred, Yes I agree with your points also and the administration may well be easier for the stock image site possibly with an eye on a freelance site later.
