Two-factor Authentication

Just want to touch base with other DP'ers about the new security feature, I haven't been able to get it going properly and I was wondering if others have?

I seem to always be getting an error stating "The Two-Factor Verification Code is invalid."

    Any suggestions?

Did you enter the correct code from your phone, or did you make one up? :)

Of course I did :p It generates a new one every minute it looks like, tried a good 10 of them or so. Basically when I go to set it up, I scan the QR code, and it says my username @ digitalpoint, with a 6 digit code and a timer, but none of them ever work.

That *should* be it... Is the time on your phone correct?

I set it up and see the same thing as you, except mine works. I even tested it by trying a wrong number and was denied login. Anyway, mine seems to work. Not sure why you are having an issue.

I am curious though, if you enabled two-factor authentication, and it doesn't work - how are you posting in this thread?

I think he can't enable it to begin with (it makes you enter a code to enable it to make sure it's working so you don't get locked out if it's not or you didn't even install it on your phone).

That makes sense. Not sure what I was thinking.

This seems to be what fixed it, the time was manually set and slightly wrong. Set it to automatic and I got it working now. Thanks!

Yeah, I think it has to be within like 5-10 minutes of being right since the numbers change based on the clock. :)

What happens if I try to use it from a different time zone?

It will still work. Internally it utilizes GMT, not your local time.
