Two domains pointing to one site?

I am pretty new to site building, and I have already realized that my current domain name isn't very good for gaining search engine traffic. I realize I can do without keywords in my domain, but it seems like it will make life a lot easier.

Anyway, I really don't want to change my domain name, if possible, but I am wondering if I can purchase another domain name, and have that point to my site. My site is a gaming blog/forum, but I was hoping to buy an additional domain that points to the arcade section I have. Something that has keywords in it, and it will be used to drive traffic to my arcades, mainly.

Being new to SEO, I want to know if this is wise, or pointless. Thanks, DP.

That will just bring traffic to you. But i would suggest you to focus on your keywords and build links so that the keywords rank in SERP. The process may take long but will surely bring good traffic to your blog.

You might try a redirect on one site to direct it to the other

I think google frowns upon multiple domains pointing to same site.

true. I just removed 2 domains that were forwarding to the 3d and I got a huge increase in rank.

Do you mean you want to optimized a site for a specific keywords and redirect it to another site which is arcade section?

Yea. I want a separate domain name that contains keywords, and have that redirect to my arcade section.

I think optimizing a site for a search engine and then redirect it to other site is called cloaking. That is a blackhat technique.
