Would that be a problem? I have bought a script. The guy who gave it to me said that I can use mod-rewrite to convert my php based links to SE Friendly URLs. He actually has given instructions on his site. I did follow those instructions only to know that it only converts a limited number of links. Now there are some links poinitng to old links while some pointing to new links. For example, Valentine link appears as /event_id=12.php? and on some places as /12-valentine-day.html. I wanted to ask that, Will it hurt my SE rankings and indexing of my pages in big SEs? Thanks!
Make all links in this format /12-valentine-day.html. and remove all these: /event_id=12.php Then make sure you 301 redirect /event_id=12.php to /12-valentine-day.html so all the /event_id=12.php references are removed from search engines
But problem is that, those links are auto generated by software. I asked the guy and he said this conversion is not included in the support and I will have to pay him $50/hr for a complete conversion or wait for the next update. I dont have that much money to spend on this change right now so I was asking would that hurt me in the longer run? because I am getting some traffic from all three major engines and so far the landing pages are the one with html extension.
Shouldn't hurt your ranking, it it still the same file, just the mod rewrite is converting to SE friendly
