    Hi all

i was just wondering, i have two different website address's but want them both to contain the same content. (same layout etc)

Will i get penalized in any way from search engines etc in doing this?

    thanks

I've tried this and what happened was Google only indexed one of them.

    Have fun :)

i see, both of my sites are already indexed but i guess its a case of trail and error, maybe if i make slight adjustments to one of the sites such as re-wording parts it might be ok.

Yeah I'm not sure. The test I did was about 8 months ago so who knows how Google's algorithm has changed since then or what affect Caffeine has (if it's already implemented).

The most likely scenario is that one appears in serps and the other gets filtered out. You don't get to choose which is which.
The best solution would be to permanently redirect one to the other - why do you need 2 sites if they are both the same?

Why would you need two sites with the same layout and content?

Could be any number of reasons My220X

I saw a thread the other day where someone said a Company with two identical websites had the top 2 places for certain search terms and thought in that case I will give it a go and see how it pans out.

I need to complete upadating tted.co.uk when I get some time as it is number 1 on Google the past four years for many search terms like "commiss00n a cartoonist" (change 0's for o's) so will let you all know how doubletted.com fairs with the same pages but a different domain name.
