Two AdSense Rookie Questions

    Hi all,

Well I'm putting AdSense on one of my websites for the first time today, and I had two very quick rookie questions:

First, can I put more than one leaderboard ad on a page? I didn't read anything about not being allowed to do that.

Also, most of my text is black against a white background. Should I leave the Adsense links the traditional blue color, or should I make them black? I'm torn between blending them with the rest of the site or wanting them to stand out, but then again I guess you don't want them to stand out TOO much, right? What is everyone's thought on that?

Anyway, thanks in advance for the help. When I'm done I'd like to post a link to the site so everyone can review and recommend changes to my ad placement as well.

    Hi,

Google allows you to put up to 3 adsense for content units, together with max 3 link units and max 2 search units, so you can put your 2 leaderboards -no problem.

On the second question - you need to try it for your site which works the best. On some sites blended ads get more clicks, on other sites it's the opposite. You need to experiment.

Very cool blichev, thanks for the help. Experimentation is usually the key, eh?

I've got a lot of messing around to do.

On any given page, you're welcome to place up to:

    - Three standard ad units
    - Three link units
    - Two search boxes
    - Three referral ad units
    - One video unit

    Okay - one more question:

Do text ads generally pay better per click than link ads? Seems it would be easier to get people to click the link ads.

    2 rookie anwsers -
Make sure your visitor can clearly distinguish your ads as ads.

You can place upto 3 content ads on your website

with the text ads you get paid when somoeone click the ads, with link ads you get paid on the second click i.e the first click will just open a result page, you get nothing. You get paid when one of the link on the result page is clicked
