What is the point of this so called hot chat site? We already have Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, a tons of others. What makes twitter so much different and better though?

    Just lucky I guess.

Seems every real company out there needs a twitter and facebook presence.

Twitter is the online equivalent of a cell phone IM, which is just as useful and popular.

It's just a slightly different medium for social networking. However, there seem to be an awful lot of different mediums for social networking at the moment so at some point, I'd expect some consolidation.

    Hey,

I would have to say what makes Twitter a bit different from most social networking sites is that it's geared more towards businesses. Most other social networks like Facebook & Myspace are geared toward familys and keeping in touch. I used to use Facebook and I used it to keep in touch with friends and know whats going on in the community. I dont use Facebook anymore, because I never really liked it that much. Though, now I useTwitter I use it for a completely different reason. I use Twitter more for promoting my business more than anything, and its just much more easier to keep up with in my opinion.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks Again!

    God bless,

Businesses can use Twitter as a virtual message board for announcing anything to do with the services and/or products they are selling. For example I use Twitter to announce what I'm offering for sale on eBay and after each tweet I see exponentially more visits to my eBay product page. Twitter is an invaluable tool for any kind of marketing.

Its ideal for companies to reach more localized audiences and much faster. Also you can get brand recognition much easier. However, its still the early days and not many people are aware of it around the world. In addition its difficult to get appropriate statistics to use...

Twitter and facebook are the best moneymakers out there. On twitter, I don't know why people waste time trying to get followers. It's easy enough to comment spam without followers.

It is not same as facebook or any other social site. Twitter is much cleaner and easier to use, it's more for you to tweet what you're doing, what's happening etc. for anyone to see, where as facebook is more private where you can chat to friends and family and so on.
