Hello, I'm new here so apologies if this is the wrong place to ask for help with something, or even the wrong forum all together! I'm having the worse time trying to get help from Twitter. Basically, a few years ago I had a Vine account linked to my Twitter. I then deleted that Twitter, not realising I then had no way of accessing my Vine. My Vine has some quite embarrassing videos on it ie me being drunk etc, it is the first thing that comes up when you google my name. I am currently looking for a job in a profession that isn't suitable to the sort of behaviour shown on my Vine and I am worried that potential employers may seem them when googling me. I have contacted Twitter/Vine who have been SO uphelpful - I was actually surprised at how unhelpful and rude they have been. There is no phone number so it's all by email. In a nutshell, they just said "We can't assist with this, sorry" which seemed automated and as if no one had actually read this email I put quite a lot in to. When I tried to email back I just got a response that they had closed the case!? They had initially told me the account was suspended, but if so, howcomes it's still visible? This might sound silly but this is causing me a lot of stress and could affect my future job possibilities. I'd be so grateful for any help. Many Thanks in advance
This seems like a serious issue. If you didn't add your email to your Vine account, I doubt you will get in there. I'd suggest you try maybe to setup a Twitter account with the exact same username and see if it will work out to get in there. Otherwise you have no other choice then going via CS. If you have those emails, share them on Twitter and mention Twitter or Vine so they respond. Usually companies are afraid if someone is sharing shitty CS. If nothing works, Google the shit out of this problem.
Google "reputation management" and start flooding Google with positive stories about yourself. Employers know that people were young and foolish and that they grow up. They may be mystified by your total lack of judgement in posting your own incriminating videos - it's usually one's friends who do that and then you have to beg them to take it down. In fact, the whole "I deleted my account" is probably a smoke screen for "I want to trick them into giving me access". If it becomes a bigger issue talk to the UK version of a crowd we have down here called "NetSafe" which is a government funded organisation focussed on education about using the net safely (no you didn't win a lottery etc) but they also a bunch of people who work with Facebook etc to close down fake accounts and resolve other problems. Failing that - your lawyer will know what to do. Lawyers cost, but so does having your reputation tainted.
