Twitter Toolbar

For those of you that use Twitter, I have just created a Twitter Toolbar for Firefox.

The Twitter Toolbar has quick links to common Twitter.com functions, it has a small drop down list of common updates one might use for a quick entry, and has a place to enter your Twitter updates right from your toolbar, and yes, it's free.

From Firefox's add-ons site: Twitter Toolbar To download it from Firefox, you need to register as a developer first. It's totally new, so it has not gone through the review process yet to be public.

works great but the submit button only sends you to the update page (doesn't actually submit the feed) this would be better

 

Still having to hit that submit button does bug. Apparently Twitter used to allow string submissions, but they killed it off because of abuse. Now everything has to be curled to be submitted, and making that work with xul/javascript seems to be stretching my knowledge. Working on it though.

Even without that though, for me anyhow, I have already become addicted to having it there. It gives you that "type when you think" ability. Thanks for giving it a try.

Loving the positive feedback. I just made an update, now 1.07. Twitter admins finally gave me a source code so posted updates will now show that the submission was made using the toolbar instead of just the web. This is big for me, so hope you download the new version! Twitter Toolbar. Also, if any of you have version 1.06 or greater already you will get update notifications automatically now.

Anyone have a "I wish it would do this request"?

 

i had Version 1.05 and when i submitted tweets it already said "from TwitterBar" - now version 1.07 says "from web" something wrong here.

 

ahh, if you click the "what are you doing no?" button it says "from TwitterBar" but if you just press enter on your keyboard it comes up "from web"...

 

1.05 was actually linking to the wrong source. I had originally coded the toolbar to say the source of input was twitterbar. Apparently someone else was already using it. So I had to change the source title to a unique name given to me by Twitter.

Ver. 1.07 reflects that. They also mentioned that it could take as long as 48 hours to populate their system. It looks like they did it right when you were testing. I tried it with button, and hitting enter this morning getting "from Twitter Toolbar".

Something I am thinking about adding next is a check box that gives you the option of posting and staying on your page, or posting and going to Twitter like it does now.
