    Twitter has become more like a search engine...it changed its home page ...made it more lik a search engine....refer to the url:

    Cool changes coming to Twitter Search from News.com reports Twitter will be improving Twitter Search to index content beyond Twitter.com by crawling links within Twitter posts and also by adding a ranking algorithm to the search results.

    Twitter Search is currently just a text matching search engine, it finds keywords based on the text of the most recent Tweet. Often, the search results can be repetitive or duplicate, plus not exactly a 100% relevant all the time. A Twitter crawler will visit the links, index the page and then correlate that 3rd-party content with the Tweet itself. This should help make for more relevant Twitter search results.

    This is not a search engine. They are more into searching what people are twittering. However, I believe they do this for monetization purposes. It has been a secret everywhere that people tend to click ads more on search results compared to content pages such as facebook profiles, etc.

    i don't know if i would say dominating. they've peaked people's interest and got them on the site but now what? most of my friend's only add other friends and the rare artist or celebrity but it really doesn't seem to have any way of making money

    I don't see twitter dominating the internet arena and it won't be doing ever. Twitter is popular only in few geography where as sites like facebook and myspace has a wider coverage.

    twitter is getting smarter and smarter.
    not even google had this much burst. there are 2 options, either it will go up in flames or eat google up like a peanut.
