    Hello all,

    Can somebody please tell me why people twit posts with tinyurl links in there?

    Is there a penalty if you post an actual link?

    NO, there is no penalty, Twitter automatically converts any URL over 30 characters into a nice, tidy, TinyURL, thats it , if you write a shorter URL you can see that it stays as it is;)

    it is based on not taking too much space. twitter actually uses bit.ly now.

    140 characters is not much, so you try and save every character you can.
