Twitter incorrectly updating number of new tweets

    Hi all,

I have noticed a problem with my Twitter account over the last few weeks in which it is not accurately updating the number of new tweets. For example, I had my computer on overnight and woke up to see Twitter showing only 4 new tweets. This is never the case — it's usually around a 100 new tweets that come in overnight. Sure enough, when I just clicked on the Twitter page, after about 45 seconds the number shot up from 4 to 103. Another example is when I leave the Twitter page for, say, an hour, it shows 2 or 3 new tweets having arrived. When I click on the "X new tweets" on top, not only do those 2 or 3 three tweets appear in my feed, but a second later a chunk of new ones come that had not been included in the "X new tweets" total during that hour.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Have you experienced this issue? Is there a fix?

    Thanks

This is normal, these numbers are being retrieved via AJAX. Accurate numbers won't be shown until the script asks the server for new data. Sometimes the update frequency is low (you may have a slow computer) so it always doesn't show what you'd expect.
