I just unfolowed 5 people today that seemed to be autotweeting every 10 minutes. If you are giving away a report or an ebook I don't think that counts as an affiliate/promo tweet. I try to Tweet with a ratio of 1 affiliate link per 5 tweets that are quality combo of jokes, pics, vids, quotes and free giveaways.
I like (and have just emulated) xphnlove2004's strategy unless something irks me and I have to run my mouth about it all day. Unless you're a news resource, you shouldn't tweet more than that -- nor outside of that exact ratio. Take a look at how many times big businesses tweet and then note the number of subsequent followers. It falls within that ratio EXCEPT for those who tweet about twitter. Twitter tweeters can tweet 24 hours a day without much risk of loosing followers as long as the tweets are useful.
I still think that these accounts is not interested in reading tweets at all. That means - no one tweet of those gets noticed. They all go directly to the bin. There is no lucky tweets when talking about such followers (whose following huge ammounts like 5.000 or more). imho Unless he has found and choosen you on his own, and filtered you in his list to be able to find your tweets.
when you have something important or interesting to say .. I sometimes tweet 3 per day .. sometimes one week without tweets .. I gain the trust of my followers and I have more than 20k ..
Truthfully, I don't think there's a concrete number of times you should tweet per day. I honestly only tweet when I have something to say. I post a tweet when I post a new blog post and I'll send my friends tweets to see how they are doing. I do think posting a tweet every 10 minutes can be a little bit excessive. I do get chatty if there's a twitter chat that I'm involved in, but I always let my followers know ahead of time. Okay I know that was a bit wordy, but I hope that helped!
I think 3-8 tweets a day is ok. But many tweeps post a lot more. Agree with stinker; it's hard to read all tweets from so many followers...
If you are using twitter to get links or for SEO purposes then 2 or 3 links max and anymore will not help. If however you are using it to drive sales then doing twice or three times as many are great as people check out twitter at different times and the timing is the biggest factor. For instance a particular online store that sells grills that I know of gets a high number of people from Twitter that directly BUY from them and they average 1.5 sales off of every tweet, so more tweets = more cashola! Not to doubt you - BUT what are you basing this 1 tweet and hour on? If you have it setup with hootsuite or other programs that allow you to enter tweets ahead of time then I can see you tweeting more. Maybe I am wrong, but are you basing this on the fact that doing "too much tweeting" is a bad habit and can be a major time suck? Just curious..
My thumbs to you. Depends on your audience, you can tweet( something exclusive, new, interesting). I often do 4 tweets a day.
yes know i know we have to twit 3 posts a day but how do we get followers how many we have to follow daily can anyone suggest good comments here ....
once an hour is the best. more over you have to post when all of your followers are online, only then you win.
I say 2 per day and your playing it safe. anything over that and your venturing out and taking risks..
I guess many of you here are unsure of what a tweet is.. just copying one's answer as 2-3 tweets per day.. Twitter isn't limiting you or stopping you to tweet until you reach the limit of more than 1000 a day. You should not tweet just as a marketing purpose. Try to be interactive and tweet in a friendly way, then you get a chance to gain followers who actually are interested to read your tweets. If you tweet too less and those too only with links, then you are building followers who are of no use.
