Hi, Twitter virgin here . Can anyone pls explain how the hashtags work on there? I have also noticed people use them on Facebook too presumably to link back. Any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks
There are two goals Make the hashtag trend so that it hits the front page and even more people become aware of a particular issue I would never have known about National Pie Day otherwise and there I'd have been with my sandwiches, oh the shame! Hashtags create a quick way to view other people's views on the top. Normally my feed only has people who I've followed, or tweets liked or retweeted by those I've followed. Clicking through on a hashtag lets me see what others are say - and lets strangers see my views. In doing so you'll find new people to follow and gain followers. eg https://twitter.com/hashtag/NationalPieDay
Twitter users put hashtags in their tweets to categorize them in a way that makes it easy for other users to find and follow tweets about a specific topic or theme.
Hashtags are the quickest way to become a part of a trend. By researching the most popular trends on twitter, you can not only highlight and communicate your posts to all the relevant audiences but you can also gain awareness about the hype around the newest and most relevant information to you. Think of them as strong and effective connections in the social media world.
