Twitter for a real user (non marketing account)

    Hi,

How would a real user get followers, I understand how most stars/businesses/personalities can increase their following, but how would the 'everyday' user do it?

Surely tweeting something interesting everyday, (or even every couple of hours), is not enough to bring in the crowd?

    Thanks

Search for people with similar interests and follow them. Once some of them followed you back, start tweeting the things that may be of interest to those people. If they see a value in your tweets, they will most likely retweet your updates, and this may bring you more followers. Use a validation service like TrueTwit to filter out bots.

You probably have a "circle of online friends", begin by following them. They'll follow you, possibly retweet your interesting tweets, and it goes from there.
