I think the day is going to come soon, because now most of the spammers are using it for marketing websites and for may other things.

Twitter is cleaning house of some of its spammers and I might see things normalizing somewhat, but they look pretty solid up until now.

Facebooks deomographics have been changing for the better though. I think if Twitter can get a handle on the spam issue it will get even better from an IM standpoint.

The idea of social networkers has been taken over by spammers but I still think they will both be around for some time. Twitter is starting to clean up, which will help.

They may have to adapt a bit in the future.

I dont think it will be for a year or two but certainly people will get fed up when the spammers 'take over'.

Twitter and Facebook are still growing. I think both will eventually max out in popularity like Myspace did, but Twitter may last longer from its simplicity.
