I wouldn't follow back if I were you. There are a couple of free services out there that can actually assist you in gaining more followers. Check out twiends.com. All you have to do is sign up and follow other people for credits. You can then spend your credits on other users who follow you. Its a never ending cycle and you can get massive followers for free using it :)

The general tendency in Twitter is if you follow others, others will follow you. That is what I have seen and experience so far.

I've noticed the same thing on twitter. Basically, what's happened is that its turned from a social micro-blogging site into a news centre for the most part. Many users simply choose to follow big companies such as Apple or Windows who will never follow back.

I would suggest to take some time looking on the profile of member following you and if you feel interested to follow than do follow back.I have had quiet a good experience getting socially connected to many people world wide.
I don't follow my followers blindly by doing so i keep myself social among people that share same interests as mine.

You have to open your followers list and have to follow one by one.

First of all, you should search people who are interested in same thing where you want to explore your knowledge. After that you can follow those people who are under your theme.

    Thanks
