Note: I really don't know where this post fits, but since google is the darling, i decided to post under google category.

In the long run, who will win the race TV or Computer?
To begin with, is there a comptetition between these two devices? Is there a market for both going forward?

I really feel that TV will be a winner in long run.
There are many enabling technologies which will help people watch TV content on a computer and computer content (IP) on a computer. However, computer is good for one or two people to watch video on it, whereas TV can be watched by the entire family with comfort of couches.

What we need is technologies like Tivo which can help people watch audio/video content on a computer.

Either computing power should be added to TVs or we need a centralized system where you can control all your home devices. There is already a huge effort in such centralized systems we get to here in technology events every year.
    What do you guys feel?

infect i think there is no comparison between the two; both have their own importance that can't be neglected anyway. As both are necesseties so people always try to combine both of these somehow!

Can you highlight the importance of one that can't be fullfilled by the other?
I think one is redundant. It depends which one though?

I agree. I am fed up with too many devices and too much wiring in the house.
Hopefully big money is with TV and let it rule in future. However, there is lot more money on computers too (Apple, dell, HP etc).
When i talked about computer, i only meant Desktops.
    Laptops are still necessary.

You have remote mouse already. What you need is remote keyboard. I am not sure if this is already in the market.

That is not the answer. The search is only available on computers and that is the reason why you feel that computers has an edge.
However, if you allow TV to have a search feature, then easily TV will overtake computers in a month.

I don't see how you are comparing a computer to a TV.
Each one is a different thing, in your house you have both a computer and a PC.

What you can do with a PC can also be done in a TV and vice versa.
Only thing is the technologies have to built and one can be easily removed and thrown into a dustbin.

    I agree with you poksa...

well, in my opinion, i think computers will move much further than TV's b'coz, time to time, the features/technology being created in computer becomes more and more accessible which you can do almost everything on it...wherein in TV, the focus is just for entertaining/watching tv programs/movies and its enhancement on the design and features are the ones who are only changing....

I'm sure they had the same debate when TV first appeared - "Radio or TV: which one will win the race?" More than 75% of people still listen to radio. TV has a certain lazy simplicity that PC doesn't - you can just relax and drift when you watch TV, which you can't really do with PC.

    You can't Code on TV
You can't Post on TV

These two devices don't have a competition. Both of them have market, There is TV in every house and computer too. So you can't basically Compete both of them. They have their individual benefits.

How comfortable are you watching TV on a computer?
What if you are given the same features with a remote keyboard and a mouse with 36 inch screen TV?
    Which one do you prefer?

I truly believe they'll converge into one device. Computers are already becoming more TV-like, and vice versa.
