TV Episode Streaming

Hi all, this topic might have been covered a few times before but i am wanting a good clear response, which would be appreciated.

I am going to open my own TV Episodes website, it will stream TV Episodes such as Lost, Prison Break, Hero's from external sources i will just be embedding them in my website not hosting them.

I would like to know the legal issues with this and any ways if any around it such as offshore hosting or elsewhere.

Also if it helps i am based in the UK.

As long you dont't host the Videos ..there is no problem.

 

It should be considered as warez linking, which is illegal in almost all the countries.

If you don't manage to make money quickly, forget it.

Concerning the hosting, avoid USA (DMCA) and prefer Canada or Sweden.

 

So even if i am linking it is or is not illegal if i live in UK and use hosting from Sweden (offshore not work?) As i have got contradicting answers here.

I am looking for a clear definite answer as i don't want to be breaking the law and risking unnecessary aggravation.

The problem isn't so much is it legal or not, but are you willing and able to fight the inevitable lawsuit you will get from trying to profit off of other people's work..

Quite good.. Hosting is just one aspect of the issue.. People simply providing links to music have been sued.. Actually embedding it falls somewhere between hosting it and providing a link so I would say that if you got even slightly popular you can expect at the very least a cease and desist letter.. At the very worst a summons..

Again, I ask, what makes you think that its ok to profit off of someone else's work without paying them??

 

I'm not really using other peoples work all i will be doing is embedding there videos in my site. I am not stealing their work.

I would get permission from the video makers just to make sure, if they have copyrights on their content, then they have the ability to pursue legal action whether or not you intend to "use" their work on your website. It's rare that people will rarely pursue legal action unless you intend to profit alot from their videos, but just know that its possible
