Hey all, I gotta ask this - as it is driving me nuts. I was asked to purchase a couple of domains by my boss - one .org and one .tv, we have paid half up front (a fairly large chunk) and were going to pay the rest on completion of transfers. The current owners are using Name.com. The .org transfer went OK (some issues with whois visibility but we worked around that), upon asking why the .tv hadn't gone through Name.com support responded with: "Hello, Thank you for contacting us. At the present, the .tv registry does not offer or support the transfer of .tv domains. This will undoubtedly be implemented in the future, but we cannot be specific as to when. We apologize for any inconvenince this may have caused and thank you for choosing Name.com! Best Regards, (name of support bod) Name.com" Our gaining registrar says that is nonsense - and that she personally had been transferring .tv domains in and out for 6 years without problem. So we are at an impasse. I have asked our gaining registrar to report this to ICANN, but they are less than enthusiastic about pursuing it. Can anyone confirm or deny what they are saying? Anyone else heard anything along these lines? Cheers all..
Till the matter is resolved why dont you get the domain pushed to your own name.com account. It will be easier and faster rt?
Hi varkeytech, We don't currently have a Name.com account, and based on my recent experience with them - I don't want one! I am having issues with them already - they are not being very helpful or forthcoming with their current customer form whom we are attempting to purchase the domains, and I have little confidence that I will have a problem-free time managing the domain via their service. What about what they are saying - they seem to imply this is not a problem with them, but with the .tv registry...
You start transfer process at your new registrar and see whether name.com releases your domain within 5 days or not. If not, contact registry as well as ICANN. All the best. DAMnX.us
I'm not really involved in the special rules of .tv domains, but can remember that there are "premium" domain names... maybe this is one and therefore not allowed being transferred. Have you the terms of business at hand as the .tv domain was registered ? What does the registry state on its website ?
well - I have just been informed by our gaining registrar that the domain has now been transferred... just goes to show - you can't believe everything support tell you ;-) perhaps it was the current owners threatening legal action for loss of profits that clinched it in the end... they don't really care for ICANN regs that's for sure!
