i agree on you but: TV is more relaxing = do dont have to do nothing. At the internet you have to read, think, press buttons - you dont press or click nothing - nothing happens. But all you people are right.

I haven't had a TV per se for, oh, 20 years, but I do admit to vegging out to Hulu from now and then .... I watch the shows I want, just not with commercials, and even then I've probably spent about a 10th of the time a normal American spends watching TV. Even as a child it was a miniscule part of the household. So, I fail in a lot of pop culture conversations.

It all depends on what you watch on television, and your reason for watching.

I feel it's the advertising that does the most damage on television, not the shows. Advertising fills your mind with absolute crap. People will want, and people will consume. Many people watch television, and that's the only input/stimulus they have for their mind. Which means that their wants and needs essentially come from television/advertising.

The bigger problem is all the advertising on television.

However, it's your choice if you watch or not. I personally enjoy movies, and some television shows. I watch them on DVD to avoid the advertisements.

well, if you abandon yourself in it, it's bad. But i think besides killing time, TV also got its beneficial functions, we can get lots of useful information from it, some TV programs make us relex, so it's not about the TV itself, it's about your choice.

    I don't watch TV really.
It is boring, stupid, full of adverts and gives you nothing. Isn't creative, you don't learn anything useful.

Agreed - I've been living without TV for almost 5 years now, an i feel wonderful. Don't have to waste time watching stupid TV shows. But i make it a point to read newspaper everyday for keeping myself updated of the events that are happening.

I don't watch TV often except on Tuesdays 11pm-12am - Supernatural.

I prefer to surf the internet, work, read a book or watch DVDs.
