I am literally tired of replying in difference posts about the really common mis-conception. I've put up a blog post explaining in detail how exactly alexa algorithm works.

You can literally use a tool to refresh the site your are on to increase its Alexa ranking provided that you have the Alexa toolbar installed. Nothing magical about it. Having said that, just because it's so easy to increase your tanking, Alexa rankings are not taken serious by people who know their shit.

 

Nice share there. But I'm still not as convinced about the Alexa Toolbar thing you're talking about. Just saying.

you will only gain some Alexa only when your visitors has alexa toolbox when he broswer your site if no, then you will get nothing

It is important to realize that out of all the ways to measure traffic of a site Alexa is one of the easiest to manipulate and therefore often times very inaccurate.

 

Yup hence, it was a kind of heads up for people buying websites depending on its alexa rank.

cheers, Ive been watching my alexa ranking for a while now. After a month it is down to around about 1.2 million. The site is a month old. Is this good, bad or average or what?. Ill definitely see if that article makes a difference.

 

Well, that really depends on what you are doing with the site. You need to PM me the link of the site to analyze.

 

Well if you really think about it, the more visitors you get, the better your ranking will be even though it's base on who has the toolbar. It's the law of average. If you have a high number of visitors, there's likely a HIGHER chance that people will use the alexa toolbar! Yes, in some occasion, a site with less visits might have a higher ranking with a site with higher traffic, but generally speaking. More traffic = higher alexa ranking.
