I'm not sure if I'm following you. "www.banana.com" isn't an anchor text nor is "www.tastybanana.com"

If you're trying to fool users by saying "www.banana.com" but it goes to tastybanana.com, you will be penalized.

Alright, let me rephrase then. Let's pretend I have two domains, www.tastybanana.com and www.banana.com

When people link to my sites, very often they use the anchor text banana.com and for the other site tastybanana.com. How much better is the anchor text "banana.com" compared to "tastybanana.com" when targetting the keyword "banana"?

 

You're still not explaining this correctly but I get what you're saying.

If you on both domains you are trying to rank for banana, banana.com is 25-60% ahead of you. Having tasty as your keyword isn't a big deal but if you must use an adjective combined with your keyword use one that makes sense and gets a decent amount of google exact searches.

You'll want to rank for both banana and tasty banana. Google is smart enough to pull out tasty and banana as separate words but you'll want to mix the anchor text up a bit. If your users are doing something, let them do it. If googles algorithm is any where close to accurate they'll reward you for the consistency of randomness

I use both. I'm also a big proponent of SEMrush.com but have no affiliation. I use it along with Google trends, insight, and keywords tool for research (and some other secrets).

I do not agree on this. I still see closed link wheels (the basic 6 wheel) doing wonders for some of my sites. It's just a matter of how you do it
