Turning off NoFollow for Comments - Does it harm SERPS and PR?

I would like to learn if turning off NoFollow for blog comments will actually harm a blog's SERP or PR... any opinions anyone?

I have a blog that occasionally gets a lot of comments.. on one post, I could possible see over 40 comment links going out to all sorts of websites from credit cards to blog forums and sports blogs. Will sending so many links out on one page to so many different websites be harmful?

I've asked several webmasters I know and they seem to be of the opinion that it won't harm your SERP rankings.

I installed the dofollow plugin into my word press blog. In my opinion providing a live link for intelligent commenting is a nice revenue ;) Of course you will need some spam protection, and moderation, but i think the visitors will like that.

I have the same opinion as well.. I'm primary concerned with the SERPs though.. did your keyword rankings fall?

Not at all, they gladly comment there. Of course i have some rules to moderate the links, but intelligent comments worth the PR leakage;)

If you moderate the comments before they are approved on your homepage then yes.
