How about a new thread for it? Something along the lines of: "Did Carter's appeasement of NK in the 90s help them gain more nuclear capabilities?" Would make an interesting thread.
It's not about which religion is better. It's about people in one religion reacting violently every time someone says something bad about their religion.
KLM, in leaving out the religous background would mean to ignore the cause of problems which is by any means created by islam and "no other religion". - Even the hijacking of the plane -
What I hate is when ignorant people do not take the time to actually read. This thread is not about religion. I did not say anything about religion, Id did not say "my religion is better than your religion", in fact, the portion of the article (which is what I was quoting) said nothing about religion. Explain to me what conclusion I jumped to? Did you actually read my post? What "other religion" are you talking about? Hell after getting an infraction for this post, and reading your obviously inept post I had to re-read my initial post myself. Here it is: " Turks Hyjack Plane to Protest Popes Visit? What a bunch of shit bags... What's next? Hyjack a KFC? Burn something? Cut off another head? What the hell is the matter with these people? Life is too short to get so worked up about such stupid things. The odd thing here is the Pope did nothing wrong. It is of course a nice excuse to get mad though. "BRINDISI, Italy (CNN) -- Passengers from a hijacked Turkish plane carrying 113 people are leaving the aircraft after the two unarmed Turks who hijacked the plane, protesting the pope's upcoming visit to Turkey, agreed to release them." "Hate mongering?" "Bigotry?" What on earth are you talking about? My post said nothing about religion, the article I quoted said nothing about religion, my post was NOT ABOUT RELIGION. I am only assuming because a mod was as confused as you and moved it to the "religious" section of General Chat that you assumed the post had something to do with a particular religion. Gee, I guess that's why it was posted in "General Chat" to begin with... Duh. An apology for what? What rumor are you talking about? I jumped to conclusions by posting a portion of a story I saw and describing my distaste for those responsible? I think a few people here might want to re-read the post, they seem to be a bit ignorant or blinded by their own false assumptions.
Hmmm, I did say "shitbags", no religion was tied to the comment. Because? I guess I do not feel the need to single out one religion. A shitbag is a shitbag. They come in all flavors, colors, races, religions or lack there of. How on earth did this go from a hyjacking to a religious thread?
You are so full of crap. No reasonable person who would have read the beginning of this thread as anything other than an effort to prove how violent Islam is and how Christians wouldn't do such things. This thread was nothing more than another attempt in this forum to turn event that happens in or around the Middle East into one religion vs. another religion. In this case it just happened to be some schlep who was trying to dodge his country's draft. In Sunday school I was taught a story about a man who spread false rumors about another. He went to his priest and asked for forgiveness and the priest said for penance the man had to take a feather pillow up to the top of the bell tower, rip the pillow open, casting the feathers to the wind. He then had to climb down the bell tower and collect all of the feathers. Only then would his penance be complete. Issuing some retraction deep in a thread like this doesn't correct the original injustice because most people will never see the correction and only see the original claim thus the original false claim continues to spread just like the feathers.
How on earth you got that out of the post is beyond me. I've never seen such a blatant display of ignorance and bigotry in my life. I think you are a bit too presumptuous. You seem to be reading way to much into this. What you are looking for is not there. It was a comment based on a story I saw on CNN, that was it. "Shit-bags", was a generalization of, well, the type of scum that would do something so stupid. It was not an implication of any particular race, religion or creed. The dali lama himself could have done it, and I would have used the same word. You need to lighten up a bit. Every post here is not an attack on any one particular religion, race or creed. Now I see how people buy into these goofy conspiracy theories and other crap. I don't think you've misinterpreted my post, I think you just took it upon yourself to re-interpret it. Wonderful, then blame CNN for jumping the gun as usual. Do keep in mind that I quoted a story with specific headlines "Turks Hyjack Plane to Protest Popes Visit?" Direct from a CNN story which I quoted in part. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the liberal news outlet that always jumps the gun. Back to the Amish incident. CNN jumped the gun on that story stating that the killer was out for some revenge kill from a 20 year incident. We found out later that was not the case. In any event, the "shitbags" comment still applies. I accurately quoted a story from a news source. Again, you are reading way too much into this. I have nothing to retract, and my statements were not false, simply a reaction to a news story. Get a grip man.
No, KLB is not being "presumptuous" at all. Even someone with the brain of donkey can see that you were referring to a certain religion. My religion. We all know what religion that is, right? If you don't, look at my sig. - MENJ
I just read this thread and I went back to see where the religious part was brought up and it was the 4th post, not Mia's post. But someone wants to sway the thread to his objectives. But while we are the subject of stupid. stupid is what stupid does...
It has been proved there was a SINGLE hijacker. And his reason for HIJACK was to SEEK ASSYLUM. It wasn't to protest against the POPE.
I hope your joking. I don't care how or why someone is hijacking a plane, they need a punishment to fit the crime. - less in this case if they were unarmed and did not threaten anyone, but still needs to have a punishment - if not you will have copy cats, etc.. I am not saying I wouldn't have done the same thing if I was in his shoes, but what he did was still wrong.
On this we can agree. The last I read he will probably be sent back to Turkey and will face a military court.
