The numbers demostrate the civillians, just like there are 7.000.000 Arabs in the Unites States, this operation targets a multi-ethnic marxist terrorist group. So irreveleancy.

There are reports of a peshmerga-Turkish clash near the border.

The peshmega are clearly getting stronger. View the before and after.

Turkey wants Peshmerga to get stronger , if they were strong enough they would not have terorist bases on their ground , but Turkey also wants Iraq to be a strong and stabilezed country.
Look at your countries they have formed a union (states) or Eu , but you want others to be broken and you say we want peace. No you Only want colonization and poor nations oil and blood. That's all you want.

Peshmerga has their real problems awaiting -and it's not Turkey- US won't be there forever. I don't think they'll suicide on Turkey anytime soon, i'm sure that's all planned.

Turkish army also told that a helicopter has been down and the site is under inspection , it is normal on such an operation , the area is mountanious and dangerous and including the lost(?) American weapons and also some french and italian (especially land mines) - they had to be lost , too (cause they don't support terorism but I can not understand how these weapons are lost) pkk has a good weaponary. But Turkish army is known by its bravery and fighting ability.

And PKK lost about 30 more, reaching a total of 150+, why are you giving only the negative news bogart? That won't ever cover the success part you know.

90 percent of the Turkish public were opposed to the US invasion of Iraq. US favorability in Turkey is 9 percent.

Turkey has in interest in stability in the region but in 2003 blocked the 4th Infantry division from entering Iraq.

It's easy to fault the US but I don't see anyone else trying to solve the problem.

Turkey has deployed troops to Afganistan so that's a start at least.

No worries Turkey will take its troops as soon as the terorist bases in Iraq has been destroyed , it won't take much time cause we are not seaarching for mass destruction weapons.

If your point is, Turkey has not let 4th infantry in through their borders and their public is not favorable to US invasion of Iraq but meantime they do the same; this is not an invasion of Iraq. This is not even an invasion of northern region as the operation does not target the KDP or any civillian territory. The north can not maintain their borders and stop hostile activities operate on their soil, so Turkey does not have to wait until they can, or decide to, when it's soldiers are being attacked. This is a temprorary military strike on a terrorist group located in mountains, again not on civil territory.

Maybe US supplying weapons to the PKK, or friendly terrorists crossing US controlled Iraqi border and killing some Muslim troops is no big deal to you more than some statistic, but it is to us.

Contrary to popular belief, Turkey is not going after the PKK.

They are finding and destroying the WMD's which the US left behind.

The operation is officially over. Efficient 1 week; over 200 terrorists killed, about 20 troops lost.

It's simple, when USA and Briton attacked on Iraq, Iraq had done nothing with them. But Turkey attacked OR made operation after, people came in Turkey again and again and attacked on their soldiers. And ran back to Iraq. And Iraq's government has no authority on that area. So Turkey has no way, but to attack and wash them. So their is big difference in 2002 and 2008's atttacks on Iraq.

The Turkish military says the goals of the operation are achieved and pulls out troops from northern Iraq. The withdrawal comes hours after US messages to wrap up the incursion quickly.

Hours after successive top-level warnings from the United States, Turkey wrapped up its ground offensive and withdrew its troops from northern Iraq after a week-long operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

“The goals of the operation have been reached and the units have returned to their bases as of the morning of Feb. 29,” announced the General Staff in a statement posted on its Web site Friday.

Turkey has gained that much in it's strike against the PKK. The PJAK the sister organization of the PKK has well-developed recruiting and an infrastructure in Iran and a funding network in Europe (particularly in Germany). As the PJAK grows so the PKK increases in strength.

A good case in point is the Istraeli strike against Hezbollah which was far larger in scope. Hezbollah has rebuilt its strength and in fact is stronger than before the Israeli strike against it.

The helicopter shot down was an obsolete Cobra. The US military flys the Apache :D

The only use of the Cobras in the US is by the US Forestry Service.

True, however, these do happen in mountanious zones especially in winter. It's the kind of territory and weather(4 feet snow) with highly mobilized targets, which many of the armies would fail badly.
