Hi, I've started The Art Inquirer in 2008 and although its traffic and search engine result has been growing steady, I don't have as many newsletter subscribers as I'd like to, even if I offer a montly promotion. For those who are involved in art and for those who aren't, how relevant to you find the content of this blog and what should I change ? I know that it's a bit cluttered with advertising, but it's also part of some income. Thanks.
I looked at your site and have a few suggestions.......... I am an artist.......I have marketed for 50 years....I build sites.......(for me and a few friends)...... The information on your site looks strong....for serious art fans......the site looks...(sorry) junky...... Too may ads and too much distracting material along the right side.... Consider a wider main page format with a lighter background......easier and more pleasant to read.....Dark is better for gamers and "kid" sites ...music, etc... Try to incorporate the ads between the information on the main page......get ride of the ones that are not making you any real dollars......replace the low dollar ads with those that pay more.... It looks like you have put a lot of work into you site I do not mean to be harsh...just looking at it from the business point of view..... I hope that helps a little....
The site looks too busy. Remember, simpler is better. And for an art blog, it's just not "artsy" enough.
Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. I do agree with having too much advertising and I'll see what I can do about it. I also thought a few times about changing it to a lighter colour (white or something very near), but the elements looked to "bright" (in the way that I have them now). As for the main page being so huge, I do agree with it a bit, but the download time must be due to all the elements on it and not to the number of articles, nonetheless I've seen blogs with a much bigger front page and they download fine. As for me, I don't like firefox on my older computer, it makes it alot slower. Thanks again, José
The information contained there is valuable but your art website do not look artistic itself. Try to reduce some load. Optimize the images before uploading them, it is very important it reduces many kilobytes of page loading. better if you put your ads on bottom rather than top. and reduce some ads. you can put some in the post, but not too many on home page. You can recover your revenue loss by using affiliate product programs which work quite well for niche websites.
