Although I am told that Craig's list does not work for everybody, I have still decided to try it out. (How could I resist. It's free, hehehehe...) However, before I get myself banned from CG, I was wondering where I can find the rules about marketing on CG. I would imagine that there is no spamming rule on CG, but I keep reading about users who got banned on CG. What are the rules for posting on CG? And more importantly, where should I post to advertise my website? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Craigslist is great. Its free so what more could you want. You won't get banned from craigslist (easily). they will have people delete your posts if they are spammy. It works, I just don't use it because its kinda time consuming. Post in the services section and you won't get banned. Although I have never heard of anyone getting banned.
I haven't had much success with Craigslist, but I haven't tried too hard yet. It's actually on my to do list for tonight.
Try the terms of service on their site. Basically, you get one post per subject at a time ... so to make a new one about the same thing, you need to delete the old one, or let it expire. And post stuff in the appropriate category.
Here are the results of my Craig's List experience so far: I posted to about 10 different cities in 2 categories: the first category I tried was 'computer services' and second was' volunteers needed'. Since I run an iPod accessories rating site, I figured that this was my 2 best options. After 24 hours, I've had 5 visits because of craig's list. It's pretty disappointing since I was expecting so much more traffic. Anybody has any suggestions on which categories I should be using on Craig's list?
It sounds like you are posting in the right places. As you may know different cities have more visitors. It is simply something you will have to play around with. Here are three different types of postings that you can do in each catagory. Just make sure to change the title around a little bit. You can even have your title as a punchline and then finish the joke on the first line of your ad. This is a good way to break the ice and get more acceptance. I also post a simple blurb like the one below. It will cut down your flagged posts quite a bit. Please Note: This ad is placed in the correct location. Please DO NOT flag this post. If you are not interested simply click your browsers back button. Thanks Three different posts: The standard post A good eye catching or curiosity arousing title. Very short ad about 2 or 3 lines link to your site The picture post Once again a good headline An image that describes what you are offering that is linked to your site. Click on above image for more information The stealth post A good headline A quick blurb about your offer email address to get more info On the last method the email address is simply an auto responder that automatically sends a message to the person emailing your with some info about your offer and a link to it. That last even allows you a little room for creativity. Perhaps post it in the giveaway section then have your email tell them that it is no longer available but here is how you can get the same results or get your own X.
Not true about not getting banned ... My IP address was banned at one point ... no matter what I posted ... could be the most innocuous thing ... it did not show up ... You can use Craigslist to market your product and/or service ... just be careful about how many postings ... to where ... and how often ... Just my proverbial 2 cents ...
Craigslist is very simple to use. I'm making tons of leads from it and I made $2,400+ just to sell a $7 guide. Why not? It's free... Take a look at these tips: 1. SHORT ADS receive more clicks than LONG ADS. 2. Ebay is a great word to use in the subject of your ads. 3. Short ads get 80% more success to not be flagged. Use them. 4. Do not use AutoPosters software or you'll be banned from CL. 5. Google is very glad about Craigslist posts. Take advantage of this! Other tips for CL: - Catch the curiosity of the reader in your subject, not the ad. - Use images in your ads. - Write "numbers" in your subject. They work good! - Track your clicks in order to know which ad was the best. - Toronto is a great place to post. I tested it! - If you put your ads into an (Ms.) Excel file, you can control them with ease. - Prepare your ads and save them in order to re-use them the next time. - Use CL to send traffic to your AdSense ads. It's free traffic. Hope it helps.
I was on clist today and i contacted some lady about a free book, she ended up hooking me up with a publishing company that is going to send me books, dvd's, cd's and more for review on my blogs. It's not cash, but it's free stuff.
If you are selling something you should definitely use webcosmo.com Why? You can post your ad countrywide or statewide, which CraigsList don't have.
This thread got my attention. I experimented and created 5 posts in 5 different CL forums. I will report back in a week or so to see what type of traffic I received.
This is really excellent info, thanks. I've been hemming and hawing about taking the plunge, but the price is right, so it can't really hurt (as long as it's done in moderation, of course).
Question for those of you who use CL. My offline business is looking for independent contractors (sales reps) in a couple of states and I was hoping to post it there but was put off by the admonition not to post the same position in multiple cities. How do you deal with that and not get banned from the site?
