Many hosting services offer options that we all don't use....but we can.....
My host has things that I never heard about.....but if I ever need them they are there...

If you can, you should just use Google App Engine (GAE).

The free quota will be sufficient for most websites and there are a lot of free software which you can deploy. The free quota offers 1 GB of storage & 2000 mails / day. You can deploy upto 10 such websites for free. Once you go over the quota, it costs as little as $0.15/GB/month and $0.0001/email.

I need to add that while it does go down sometime, you can be sure that Google is much better at handling your hosting than most other providers out there. Even during such short outages, they are very transparent with details on the cause and about the steps taken to prevent it the future.

I use Google App Engine for my websites and would surely recommend it. Try it out.
