Traffic is your Life. With out it you are dead. I suggest you learn how to generate your own free traffic from the major search engines are you relly do not exist. Do some research on supply & demand in your nich and choose the right keywords and learn how to get back links to your content. Good Luck!
there is a lot of good avice in this thread but I would say this: you should focus on a couple different areas and stick with them for a while. if you continue to look for the next big thing, you will never make progress.
Another way to make a sale or generate sales long term is to have a subscriber list. Come up with a short report or an eBook that you can give away once a visitor signed up to your list.
