Trying to make a clock-in/timesheet system

I'm not sure if I'm calling it the right thing.

I'm trying to make this for my wifes school where she needs to have the teachers clock-in every morning, but wants a weekly report at the end of the week. (not daily)

It will ideally look something like this:

                        08-27-07 08-28-07 08-29-07 08-30-07 08-31-07
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Barbara Doe | 07:15 | 07:19 | 07:10 | 07:10 | 07:10
    John Smith | 07:21 | 07:16 | 07:31 | 07:10 | 07:10
    Jane Johnson | 07:11 | 07:08 | 07:45 | 07:10 | 07:10
    etc...

    Code (markup):
I'm not very sharp when it comes to more than just basic PHP stuff. I don't quite get arrays.

By now you're probably saying I shouldn't be attempting this if I don't understand arrays, but I sure would like to look like a smart guy to my wife and her staff. =)

Can anyone help with a full fledged example, or tutorials, or just a shove in the right direction?

A big issue for me is getting an answer that a more knowledgable programmer will understand, but is way over my head. If you could simplify as much as possible it would help me greatly.

    Thanks!

I found two free examples for you. Although, they probably have more features than it sounds like you actually need.

    timeclock.sourceforge.net
    timeclock-software.net

You should definitely try Pacific Timesheet. They might offer you free if it is for 3 and under license. It provides extensive user-facing features that make tracking time and managing time off simple and easy. Validation rules guide the user to make correct requests and timesheet submissions that in turn ease the burden of a supervisor's approval duties. The system is intuitive and requires little training.
