Trying to increase backlinks

When trying to get backlinks. Do I link back to my main page or an article on my site? For example in ezinearticles is it best to link to the article on my site or my main page or does it matter. And should I use a keyword in the backlink?

I'd suggest a combination. Realistically you should have keyword targets for individual pages of your site. For example if I'm looking for a top 100 do follow blog article, that's where I should end up, not on your home page (even if it is SEO related). If I like the content I'll check out the rest of the site.

If you are just starting off link building then you will want to point the links to your home page as it will be more effective for your target keyword
In the long run though you will want links going to all your internal pages.
But your home page will typically flow the link juice outward from there, and will be the most important page on your site.
Let me know if you need any more info, glad to help.

It depends on what your goal is. Are you looking to get a trickle down effect to all of your pages or do you want a single article/page to get most of the views?

Also, make sure that you use an appropriate anchor text in each link.

    That's all I got for ya' :)

Right now I have about 50 backlinks and getting very little traffic (5-20 visits/day). From what I learn so far is I need a lot more backlinks from sites pr5 or better. Not sure what should be in the anchor text, I beleive my keyword ? Lets say my article is about cleaning blinds and my keyword phase is cleaning blinds. Would my achor text include "cleaning blinds" and should the backlink be directed to and article in my site about cleaning blinds or could it go to my main page.

focus to one article that you are going to promote. Get backlinks with anchor text that you are targetting.. don't forget to vary your anchor text :):)

Should the anchor text include your keywords? Do you mean vary anchor text from different sites but still include keywords? Curious as to why vary the anchor text.

I wondered about this too, how to use articles. I mean I know not to use the same article for different articles directories so how to easily submit articles to get backlinks. I mean is there a program to do this easily too without getting burned out.

It's easy to vary anchor text, this is the example:

if i want to strenght my anchort text----> "pet shop"

    i will vary it with:

    "pet shop"

    "best pet shop"

    "golden pet shop"

    "the complete pet shop" etc

It looks more natural to google..

It is really very effective to use your keywords as anchor text for back links. It is S.E.O friendly and it will promote your site effectively.

    Good Luck

I think Anchor Text Linking in Forum Profiles and Social Networks is also a great way you can consider. But take care the sites must be Dofollow so your links get credit.

When I submit articles to directories, I use a link to my home page using one keyword and then link to another deeper page with another anchor text. Of course, I only do this if two links are allowed in the author resource box.

When I build links for clients, I use several methods such as do follow blog commenting, social bookmarking, forum posting and other methods. Some links show up on Google's results must faster than others, even when you ping them. Haven't figured out why yet...

    Hope this helps!
    :)
