    My search is over. I'll be using Handshakes for this project.

    -Red5 support so the video chat works without spending 5 grand on Flash Media Server!!!!!


    Thats really it for 3.5, but thats enough for me. I'll pick up my first Handshakes license this week!!

    Thanks to your b@#ing Chris. ;) Yes, they have finally woken up at least in this direction. Handshakes does have it's challenges though and be prepared. It's far, far from perfect and can be downright frustrating to work with but the open source is a start.

    i've tried a few different ones... and have been very happy with phpfox -- open source and (if you're comfortable with php and OOP) easy to customize

    I am happy only with my own products :D which I design and program together with a programmer.. if you want to be unique, hire a programmer, or buy a script, with a million of features, and leave only 5 features active. this will make your site unique. but site with a million features would cost a million dollars :D

    Indeed Social Engine is good solution they have lots of great plugins and it is highly customizable i also recommend you to try dolphin *both scripts have excellent support

    I (although a developer of a dating script) will always recommend: GO CUSTOM.
    We develop abledating at http://www.abledating.net and have this site also: http://abk-experts.com/
    Here you can order a completely unique solution, not to over-saturate the web with clones of different dating software scripts.
    There is only one piece of advice one can give here: GO CUSTOM!!! Get an open source solution and change it until it is unique. Of cource it is easier to do this when you have a script with a lot of features like abledating from the beginning.

    But it can be any other software script. But make your homework, imagine what you would like your site to lool like. And answer one simple quiestion: WHY THE USER WILL USE MY SITE AND NOT ALL THE REST?
