I have this site That I am trying to get on the first page. I thought since it already had alot of traffic it would get there faster but thats proving to not be happening. Is there anything additional that I need to do?

Any input would be great to achieve this hurdle.

Not super easy keywords, good luck :)

Chances are it's probably just a matter of "more" of what you're doing. Check what your competitors have done to rank well and beat them at it

you dont have any real content. There are only a handful of backlinks and the keywords you have chosen are reasonably competitive. I would get loads more content up on the site , start building backlinks, social bookmarking submitting feeds etc. you really need loads more content. From a users viewpoint they are going to take one look and close it. As it is its probably going to take you a while to get ranked unless you take some shortcuts. not trying to put you down but that is how it is.

edit: use site explorer to see where your competitor is getting their backlinks from and copy them. go to forums and post there. look at whatever your competitor is doing and do it slightly better.

There's a lot of competition in this particular domain... You should work on some niche article

Your website is still fairly new isn't it? Whois says sept of '08. For that niche, you really need to put some more articles out there and let time build up.

@ AdamDuritz99. The age is no big deal. what is a big deal is the lack of content on the site and virtually no backlinks. Ive got sites ranked within a few days or so, using specific strategies but the keywords he is targeting are a bit competitive so will probably take a month or so of work, unless he takes some shortcuts.

Ok, thank you so much for the constructive feedback. It was greatly appreciated. I am planning on adding more content, I just was trying to figure out the ways around the whole backlinks. I am not sure how to get those built up.
How exactly do I use site explorer? So maybe 10-15 different articles on the site?

Any way I should reorganize the site so that I can add additional content?

getting backlinks is pretty easy. Find forums on loans or cars and post your backlink on there. even if they do not allow signnatures in posts there are other ways of getting backlinks on sites and forums. to use yahoo site explorer put your competitiors address in the search bar for site explorer. you will see where ther backlinks are coming from and just go to the same sites and get backlinks from there. this is the basic stuff. if you want to get ranked quick your put up content and get backlinks from high pr sites. If Im doing a site and want quick ranking I give them a lot of pr 7-9 backlinks and that will make them jump up the serps. then concentrate on building relevent backlinks to stay there.
Dont worry about PR just about where you rank in the serps. Ive had sites with nothing on them and I mean nothing jump to PR1 in a matter of days. just concentrate on backlinks and content.

I was guessing what is your main keyword that you want to target?
Get listed on google first page for highly competitive keyword will
take you lots of efforts.Because you need to think and consider these
    two questions :

1.How to get listed in google first page?
2.How to maintain my site on google first page?

Why not targeting long tail keyword?Your main concern is to get
traffic from google right?Try targeting multiple long tail keyword.

Without a bunch of links with quality (and varied) `anchor text, you will not show up well on google. You have tons of work to do if that is your goal.

Ok but what would I be looking at as far as long tail for this specific keyword? I think i might try outsourcing for the keywords. I have wayy to much on my plate to be trying to learn even a newer skill.

what do you mean by a lot of traffic! the site averages about 10 visitors a day. you need content ,unique content and very soon google and the other search engines will reward you with massive traffic.

It gets type in traffic as I have other avenues that I have utilized. There are other articles that lead back to this site. It gets more traffic than that.

I decided to get about 10 more articles to add to the site focusing on the different realms of the keyword(s) at hand. I have some pretty swank people guiding me as well as the people who have offered their constructive feedback.

Plus, I am going to get an SEO person on board.
