Good morning, I am attempting to drive more traffic to our site and have the phone ring. We are a software/hardware developer and our market are primarily medical, areospace, telecom, computing and inflight entertainment. We assist in the development of someone else's product. I don't have a carrot to dangle such as a free cup etc. We have been around for 35 years and have a solid reputation.

Google seems like it would be a fantastic avenue for us, if I could just get my arms around it. Should I hire a consultant to guide or should I just try and do it all myself. I am a graphic designer with marketing experience. I feel like there are pages and pages of information that I am having a hard time learning everything. We are about to add some white pages to our site and I am having trouble understanding that I have to create adwords for the white pages for them to be included in the content search.

Can someone give me some useful information? Here is our site.

    Thank you,
    T

Well, a word of advice. If your completely knew to marketing online you should do a lot of research before you attempt to take it on by yourself. You can burn through several thousands of dollars within a few hours on Adwords if you don't know what your doing. When I say burn through I mean spend the money and have 0 conversion.

Reading the background information you provided in the post I suggest that you start looking at creating and developing landing pages with you will target your campaigns around. Since there is so much to your business you'll want to be able to summarize what you have to offer quickly and efficiently. This is specially true if your planning to take on a Cost Per Click campaign.

Do your research, that will be key to have the most efficient and effective campaigns.
