Okay I run a gadget blog and i will discuss normal stuff like computer, music players, cell phones, cameras, etc.

I'd like to find those small companies that create some pretty cool gadgets but that no one talks about.

    Google isn't helping.

I really don't know where to start. Can anyone help?

Search in google images, search for what you want, go to page 14, find something unique, and go to its site.

    I think.

U can Google or Yahoo for the companies. Some site can be found in affiliates to a site. Small companies use affiliates to market their products..

One thing you can do is to contact a distribution firm and see if they can't point you in the right direction.

Back in the day, I worked for a company called En Pointe. We used to have Vendors come in once a week and they would buy us lunch and tell us about their latest and greatest products. I put together this Disaster Recovery solution for remote site analysis - basically in the event of a disaster, a small group of people would be sent to buildings with video cameras and the video feed would be sent via cell phone to engineers who would say whether or not to tag a building as safe or unsafe.

During that process, the vendors gave me video cameras, cell phones, video conferencing equipment, etc. to put the package together in hopes of winning the bid - all for free, but most of it I could only hold on to for 60-120 days.

Crazy stuff - super compact hard drive video cameras way before they became a consumer item, super efficient video conferencing CODECs that worked incredibly at like 19,200 connection speeds, ultra rugged laptops and carrying cases, etc.

I would get in touch with a sales guy and find out what products he's pimping. Then have him put you in touch with the Vendor's sales rep and talk with them about how to make their product the greatest product since iPods came out. If you get in touch with the right people, they will do anything and everything from getting you marketing materials, sample products, ideas for article angles, etc. You'll have to convince them you are legit, so it's kind of a double edged sword, but it's really all about how you present yourself.
