I work for a small pest control company and recently talked the owner into letting me try my hand at using Google Adwords to help generate some new business. It helped that we received a $100 coupon to try it out. The first week it took me a while to kind of figure out how to set things up and target just our area of service as well as figure out what keywords we needed to be targeting. We are in our second week and although we had a few clicks the first week we did not see any business generated from the clicks. This is the second week however and we are pleased that we have had at least 10 new inquiries and 4 new customers. This may not sound like a lot at first but as the season warms up I expect this number to increase a fair amount as more and more people start searching for this kind of service. All together we are pleased so far and I hope to learn some tips from you guys. There is a lot of great information here it seams.
Congratulations! You’ve done well. I once ran a promotion and got 200 clicks but NO sale… Hang on there.
Sounds like you did your research before starting. Keep it up. A lesson here for those saying Adwords is a waste or that you should rely only on SEO because it's free. Walker got four new customers using Adwords that he would not have otherwise. I call that a good investment. Have you used up the $100 yet? If not, an even better investment. No we have not even used $50.00 yet. We feel that even when the coupon runs out the investment is still worth it. I have our ads showing an average placement of 3 or higher so I think its going well so far. I am sure I will learn some tricks or gain some great advice on here.
More good news. We got 3 inspections scheduled yesterday from people finding our google ads on the first search page. Also 2 new regular service customers with equates to contracted guaranteed services for 1 yr. The inspections usually lead to a one time termite treatment or sometimes after talking to a technician a termite treatment and a regular pest control service so possibly 5 new customers yesterday just from the google ads.
This has got to be the quickest and best response to using Adwords from a newbie I've ever seen. Congrats! Guess you don't need me I decided to look at your site out of curiosity. I would advise you to change your images to actual HTML text. Google cannot read the text in images. In fact, it sees hardly anything it can read and determine what you're all about. That's going to hit your QS hard, if it hasn't already, and increase your costs.
Thanks for the info. This is actually something I've discussed with the owner of the company and we are looking into this. I am also actually trying my hand at redoing the site and hopefully we will have something with much more information and text for Google and other search engines to crawl and help our rankings. This was one of the first things I noticed when I started working here about 2 months ago. Since I have previously had a few of my own sites I knew this was an issue. Thanks for more good advice though you guys are great here. By the way I'm no pro at any of this stuff its just a hobby for me. I did have some luck a few years ago selling a few sites though so I'm not a SEO virgin.
Hey Lucid check this site out http://webpages.charter.net/m4ck61/wpm/ Its what i'm working on as a replacement for the site we have now. I know I'm no professional but I am getting to know my way around Fireworks and Dreamweaver and using CSS which I think I really like. I think this new layout and text based site instead of an image based site should do much better. Give me your opinions on the site if you would.
Hi WPM.Com, Sounds like you may be on a roll, but in an attempt to offer some advice or ideas, I tried the following Google searches: Walker Pest Control Greenville Pest Control Spartenburg Pest Control Anderson Pest Control Easley Pest Control And did not find your company in any of the sponsored searches. Are you still advertising, or did you 50 bucks run out..
You should not be able to find my ads because they are limited to people in that geographical area. Only people in the proper area see my ads. This is a small area we are targeting because it is a small company. Only the upstate SC residents will see the ads. That is part of the beauty of the Google adwords.
