To make your long urls shorter will make google pick up your site better, instead of having the url: www.dhtekdsf.com/43435dfjdi&%dfd_djdk_fd#.php it would be reduced to http://dhtekdsf.com/89nbk. www.tinyurl.com
that allows you to redirect long urls of your site to tinyurl, nonsense! this service is made to send small urls within emails.
And people still complain when I snap at newbies... but just look at them posting this kind of BS and showing that they have no idea of what they are talking about.
Small url lengths help with the indexing of your pages! Matt's got a nice blog entry on his site regarding url lengths etc ... that is my main problem with one of my sites.
It's comical to find pompous 'senior' members quickly flame others for their attempts at sharing information. While as said above tinyurl isn't a great perfection, the shortening of urls into a smaller length is better. Obviously, ideally what you would want is www.k30.com/23420/2keyword3409/23f0 into www.k30.com/keyword.
Whether or not the small urls help in rankings is true ??? TinyURL doesn't seem to do that for your website according to what I read. I may have missed something. It looks like it is a browser addon that helps the "user" reduce long urls to small urls for easy bookmarking etc...
Are you both trying to be unhelpful ? Length matters to some degree. If possible keep below 100 - if for now other reason than for the user's experience. http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm But more important: http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html http://www.seomoz.org/articles/search-ranking-factors.php *tiny url is not for seo purposes.
I would say it matters allitte, but then again a 200 character domain with 20,000 incoming links would rank well no matter what
It is not a parameter in determining the serps It is just a risk that the page is not crawled. That being said tinyurl has nothing to do with all this.
Hey I have found fly2.ws very useful in converting LONG Urls to Short ones...U can see the proof here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2949627#post2949627 Initially, I faced problems with LONG URL's but now i am doing fine with Fly2.ws
Well I think these Url shortening websites are helpful to those who are not familier with HTML tag. And I do believe that Short URL' s has a better position in Search engine Rankings than the long one's
