Is it true that purchasing your domain for an extended number of years helps your ranking in the engines? THanks in advance.
Hardly. Other factors have a much bigger weight. A domain without incoming links is close to useless. IMO.
I've read that it does help "instill trust among the search engines". It supposedly lets them know that you plan to be around for a long time. How the search engines know this, I don't know. Maybe someone else here could explain.
I don't think so. I have some No. 1 Google rankings for websites that have less than a year to expiration date. Domain age has something to do with rankings, but I think the website age and the history of the website is more important.
it dose help, as google always fear about high pr expired domains. if you book for a longer period it will help you get a better rank. but then the other factors like backlinks etc are more important!
I think it's only one thing from millions of SEO point... So its will help if other point done... but if not, its wil nothing.
According to the Google Patent yes. However if it is actually implemented, I guess it is a minor factor.
i have a friend that checked the issue and came to extreamly minor results. i'll try to get specific conclutions from him and post later.
It helps to have a keyword/keyphrase in the domain name or to be the name Olso age is a factor that counts But links backlinks is the most important in my view
Agree. It's something to do if you can afford it as it certainly doesn't have a negative effect, and may in fact have a slight positive effect. As others have pointed out, though, it's just one of many things to cover, and there are lots more that are far more important. Still, it takes all of a minute to do it if you have the money, and the benefits (if any) stay with you for years. Not a bad return on time spent.
