Because its easier to join the bandwagon and believe the sensationalist news media than actually bothering to investigate the meat of the matter...or even better, staying for some time in the Middle East and really getting to know the people...People love to believe the worst...the truth is all too mundane. Remember the words of RATM "The thin line between entertainment and war", people love to be entertained with this dribble. Anywayz all this nastiness between Muslims, Christians, Jews, Replicans and any other group will mean absolutely nothing in a 100 years....If were not underwater, well all be freezing to death...LOL theyll be nobody left to argue with anymore and that should settle this whole debate quite nicely.
My friend the difference is that we know that God loves unconditionally and not like as quoted in your reference-link above. - "Now we have the truth about what God loves and what He does not. God loves us for the good we do and does not love those who do evil" - - Now, this can't be the message of God, sorry. God calls the sinners, broken hearted, ill people and not the rightous. Why is he doing this? Because of his unconditional love. Words without actions are meaningless, I agree. I just want to point out that the Bible focuses only on one thing and that is Love, nothing else has value, thats the message. The scriptures starts and ends as the "greatest love letter" addressing all mankind and not only Christians. It sounds so easy, but Godly love is not that easy to achieve and needs to be practised and trained like a muscle, while at the other hand monkey love we have a lot around. The Bible shows us its ideal, unfortunately,- most Christians included, it doesn't work to that extent yet as it should be. Now where is the focus on Love in the quran? Sorry to say that, and it's not to take personal, but it looks like a strategic worldly manipulation of historic events and eternal truth.
Peace Arnie, Again: 1) Don't take it literally, instead..take it metaphorically. 2) Do you expect god to love a murderer? 3) Do you expect a terrorist to be called rightous? You, see by saying those people are "not the rightous"...We can simply know that those terrorist who killed people by the name of god are not the rightous.. Anyway the most important...Scriptures are never written by god (Not only Quran by also Bible and also other scriptures), in fact, the is no word is able to describe the Almighty, Scriptures are written by normal human being who recorded the message they get from the Messenger and the Messenger is someone who is enligthen by god..If you're a spiritual person, you know what it means to experience the "divine"...A feeling that can't be told by words. In the system of god..there is no such thing as "sin" or "bad"...God is perfect..and so do his creation...The thing is..we are living in a world where we have "law created by human", diseases and more...So, you need to take "The book" in that perspective..As, example when god asked us to avoid eating pork...Is that mean god created pig to be a "lame" animal? No, but it is because it isn't good for our health for us to eat in a world where we are expose to viruses... What is a big deal when god called someone as "ill"?..Isn't that the truth? Do you think someone who is physically and spiritually healthy would do "harm" to anyone? As example, someone who killed people as a result of being jealous of them is an "ill" person. Yes, he/she is really "ill ".What it means by ill is, he/she is "pyschologically ill" as someone who is "mentally heathly" will never take such action..So can you please tell me..what is wrong by calling someone as "ill"...Does it sound rude to you? You need to understand.. 1) What is rude to you not neccessarily rude to someone else...Just like what is considered normal by Western is considered rude by Eastern. 2) The word "ill" is English, which is equivalent to "not healthy", so its depends on the person who is translating the message whether to take the meaning as "ill" or not healthty... talking about "sin"..What is a "sin" actually. If we are talking about the meaning of "sin" in the dictionary, it means violating the law of god...So, a "sinner" is someone who violated the law of god...Isn't that what they should be called? Talking about punishment, as I don't take "hell" and "heaven" literally, I am already seeing the "punishment" and I believe "you" too seeing the same thing just like me and everyone else.. . Thats the problem, you need to understand, "Koran" is meant to be a book of guidance, not a "love letter", it talks about science, engineering, marriage and many more... Anyway, let us talk about this issue deeper which mean instead of taking Al-Kitab as the physical "scriptures" we take it as the "law of universe", Arnie..what do you understand by "reading"? If you do some research, you will know that when the time the message came down...There is no such thing as "book" that we understand now...So, the "Quran" or "The Reading" can't refer "physical book", So do bible.. If you don't mind you can spend sometimes reading a debate here, we tried to discuss with people about what we understand just to find out that we were wasting our time with some people who will never open their mind... hxxp://www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4565 Before, we can discuss any further, we need to see how much we really understand the message, you see..."the reading" is not hard to understand, and at the same time it is also not easy to understand..In other words you need knowledge.
You may not see any replies about my "raghead" post here but I've got some red reps. I am sorry if anyone was offended, it wasn't the intention at all, I just used a wrong word due to lack of consideration before posting. I just wanted to know why so many open up accounts and start to post in this thread.
Well, I did... Again, pretty darn near 50/50.... Not surprising. Anyway this was a much better poll than CNN seems to be capable of creating. They come up with real creative polls that challenge the mind. Ones like, "Who would you rather have run US Ports, the UAE, or US Mafia?" CNN was brought to you today by the number "Q" and the letter "2". Anyway, the results on that poll were pretty much 50/50 as well.
Ah theres only been 74 votes...dont think we can draw an accurate conclusion on the opinions of what a couple of billion people? As far as it goes though the results dont really surprise me so far.
Being an ongoing poll and the fact that DP doesn't allow duplicate accounts, it should only get better
We can talk forever about theory, but in practice Islam seems to be the religion of waving around AK-47's, firing into the air, raping women, and cutting heads off of random strangers. I'm sure it has it's positive points too, of course. Like ummm... that nifty prayer music!
You don't understand, Will. You need to watch that stuff on Al Jezeera in Arabic. If it's not in Arabic, you won't get it.
That's why there's so much discussion on Coptic Christians Incorrect. There are plenty of reasons why the kafir (infidels) do not like islam and they have been covered here. The race card is an extremely weak defense in trying to portray one's self as a victim. That you had to resort to it, tells me you are weak. islam is not about race and it's followers are made up of many races around the world. For example, Randall Todd Royer, an American convert to islam, served as CAIR's communications specialist and civil rights coordinator. Today, Royer is in jail on terrorism-related charges. In June 2003, Royer and ten other young men, ages 23 to 35, known as the "Virginia jihad group," were indicted on forty-one counts of "conspiracy to train for and participate in a violent jihad overseas." The defendants, nine of them U.S. citizens, were accused of association with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a radical islamic group designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State in 2001. The problem is not the color of skin or the country of origin, as islam is made up of many different races. The problem is islam. It always has been and always will be. I'm just glad people are finally waking up and taking their own initiatives to discover what it's about, despite those that willfully attempt to deceive others about it.
Do you know how many people follow/believe/practice Islam around the world? Its gotta be approaching 1 billion, probably more...taking into account not just the Middle East but also a good deal of Asia, and small communities in Europe. U.S, Aus etc. You think a billion people are prone to rape, murder, and touting AK-47's when it strikes there fancy?...lol seriously youve been watching too much Fox News. Its a problem with a minority in what is a massive religious faith...That minority is certainly virulant and extremely dangerous but anyone who thinks every single person that follows the faith is gonna pull out the AK-47 the second they get the chance is completely deluded and brainwashed by the right, both political and religious. That kind of thinking could end up more dangerous and stupid than the actions of the terrorists. I still dont buy the idea Islam promotes violence as a mainstay of its religious ideal.
Nerz: How many Hindus are there? How many Hindu terrorrists are there? How many Buddhists are there? How many Buddhist terrorists are there? Do the math. Something about Islam, statistically speaking, makes people complete assholes.
Liberals... "Fox News", "race", and "Bush"... Is that all you've got? It used to be mildly entertaining, but now it is complete trite, and overly redundant. Move on as the saying goes.
