    Hey all,

I have recently installed the RedCarpet WP Theme onto my website and I seem to have a few problems..

My header image is not displaying correctly, the rollover on the navigation bar is not working correctly, and adsense doesn't seem to show up.

You can view my website here..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    1. Sometimes it takes adsense a few minutes to show up...seems to be working fine now in your header.

    2. Really no way of knowing about the header image. Does the theme have options to change it from the theme options, or are you coding it in manually.
Either way, make sure that it is properly sized according to the instructions, or is at least the same size as the default header image that came with the theme.

    3. Try labeling your categories other than just "category 1' and "category 2" and then change your permalinks and update. Not sure what the menu is supposed to do, and it's hard to guess without knowing if there are any theme options on the back end and how you have it set up, but I noticed those things right away

It's hard to guess problems like that without knowing how the theme options are set up, or if you have made any edits to the theme files, what the theme is supposed to look like and so on.

Thank you for your response. I am new to WordPress and need some help.

    1. The adsense is working on the header and a few of the other pages but when you click on a breaking news story you will see there is white space with nothing in it.

    2. The header was working fine earlier today and then I updated a post using WP and it seemed to disappear, I don't know what happened.

    3. Unfortunately, I am new to WP and have no idea how to label categories.

Here is a preview of what the theme is supposed to look like..

As you see, when you roll over the nav it has like a little highlighter effect that is not displaying on my theme.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    1. Just make sure that you have copied ALL of the code and didn't leave anything out. Sometimes it takes a while to populate ads. Also, sometimes competing code will cancel one out. If there is any other Javascript on the page, it may interrupt how other Js code on the page is displayed...although that doesn't seem to be the case.

Also check your adsense setting for that particular ad block. If you have it set to not show anything if there are no content ads, then it won't and all you will see is white space. Some people opt to show public service ads, or ads from another website that they own. You control all of that from your adsense ad settings.

    2. It's hard to trouble shoot theme function from the outside looking in, but Id say to just reinstall the header image again, making sure that you have all of the code and tags.

    3. To label your categories, go to your Dashboard, Click "Posts" and then you will see where you can make and assign Categories. Something tells me that since there are no categories set up, that's why the category menu is not functioning properly.
Then make sure that you are assigning your posts to the appropriate category when you write them.

    Hey hmansfield,

    1. In my adsense account I have the box checked off to show public service ads.

    2. I will have to try this, thanks.

    3. I do have labeled categories, breaking news, videos, pictures. The navigation bar was working earlier as well much like the header. I think it may have stopped working at the same time as the header.

I appreciate all of your help.

    Regards,
    Jason

In that case, have you installed any new plug ins ?
You should go back and check them one by one to make sure that none of them are affecting your theme functions.

If all else fails, reinstall your theme files, provided that you haven't made any edits of changes to them.

I'm not seeing that you have labeled any categories...they still say "?cat=1", "?cat=2" and so on.

I have not installed any new plug ins.

I might just have to try reinstalling the theme files, hopefully that will do the trick.

Yeah, it's weird I'm seeing the same thing you are but when I go to my Dashboard in WP it say's that I labeled three categories..
    - Breaking News
    - Videos
    - Pictures

    I don't know what's going on

    Thanks,
    Jason
