I'm having trouble starting apache. I get this error: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd_vhosts.conf: Invalid command '/home/myusername/public_html', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Does anyone know why this might occur? I followed the instructions for the apache installation http://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php/CentOS#Apache_Installation exactly. Any help, insight, or discussion would be much appreciated.
/home/[Username]/public_html /var/log/httpd/[Username] thats the whole hosts file [Username] is a stand in for my actual username.
Ok, it seems as though that directory has about 50 subdirectories e.g. /public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html/public_html There is obviously something wrong there.
Nevermind. I apparently screwed up something important. I'm going to have to format it and start from the beginning (for the 3rd time ARGGGGHHHHHHH). Oh well, I get better at it each time.
I'd rather re-build the apache with the basic specs , if it still has troubles you will have to check other parameters
