    Hi,

I have been running the SEO for a freelance client for sometime now. We achieved great results for the inital keywords and are either in place 1 or 2 for all of them.

Since then he wants to rank for a new area as well as the current area. Therefore Google Places / local listing now plays a big part in ranking local search results. I am having trouble for one, raising the places ranking, and am unsure if the backlinks should be a priority.

To my understanding in order to rank well in places you need the following things (mainly): -

    • Review
    • Ratings
    • Local Address/Postcode
    • Citations (Listings of the business address and name etc)
    • A complete Listing
    • user verified

I have listed the 2nd address in countless directories and relevant places, but am getting now new citations (more about this place) links, how long do they take to show up? Anyone have any hints or tips and about to get more?

Do you think I need to concetrate on backlinks? Or Citations?

    the places listing is here

    The website address is http://www.yesdriving.co.uk

All help, advice along the lines or backlinks vs citation, organic results vs places for local search results. Please share!!

    Thanks

My SERP has jumped up 5 places in the last 24 hours, although the Google places listing has not moved yet. Therefore I think by getting the places listing up to the top 5, that should give me top 3 on the SERP.
