This Post by rony john helped me a lot get adsense clicks it will also help you out ...
A team of scientists engaged in military research recently came to the conclusion that when it comes to reading web pages, most readers read in "F" shaped pattern taking into consideration the eye movements of 232 readers,it was found that a reader generally reads in a horizontal movement first.

"a reader generally reads in a horizontal movement first." You mean from Left to Right? I never knew that, I mean when I read an article I start at the end of the sentence then work my way to the beginning in a horizontal manner.
I hope people don't read articles vertically.

    Very good read!

I must be thinking the same way... 97% of my websites are designed with the "F" in mind!

Soo that suggests ads placed along the top line of the web page & placed along the left side going down are going to catch peoples attentions more so than those placed randomly in the middle somewhere ? If i'm on the right line then i've learnt something useful today.

If you just want a good ctr just put two blocks of adsense above the fold and the rest of the content above the fold. Or write a small article that surrounds an adsense block.

Nope, it all depends on your site/page design; there are certainly some general rules that work - but it's general and just a starting piont to cut down your learning curve related to YOUR site. Exceptions make the success. Don't copy, be genius, try and correct according to your stats! ;)
