    Zilch! It doesn't work.

First, I get a screen that says -
    I click "continue".
Then it returns to the original page, showing NO RESULTS! Just an example on the right side that says 74%.
No point in making a second attempt, right? (Although I did, and third, and fourth, and ... )
Does "Regular users" mean non-paying, off the street web surfers. Or does "Regular" mean "paid" user?
    SEOmoz is all about membership.

I tried all those tools before, when there were 6 of them (there are now 12).
    In every case, either -
    1. You must be a member (for some tools, why make us guess?), or
    2. They simply don't work (the other tools)!

Maybe they are not Mac friendly, and are PC only. Possibility?
I was not able to get ANY results from ANY of them. Delivering this kind of frustration sends me on my way like a rocket.

So, how did you get your results? What do the results look like? I guess you can't post a screen shot, since you only get one report per day. Maybe tomorrow?

    Not your fault, THEIRS!
They need to put a big blurb at the top that says -
YOU MUST BE A MEMBER TO USE THESE TOOLS. Why frustrate people ON PURPOSE?
To make them join? This approach will NEVER work on me. It has just the opposite effect.

I am not a "joiner". Too many bad experiences and wasted time.
Why should I be forced to join? "Join" means relinquishing your email address.
Just to get on another email list, and be spammed senseless by yet another web site? Naw.

And what's the deal on tool usage?
A "Non-member" gets to use NO tools,
a "Regular member" gets to use a few tools, but
the best tools will cost you a "Premium Membership", at 50 samoleans per month? FIFTY BUCKS! I wanna see some free lunches with that.

I get along nicely with free (no signup) web applications. There is nothing that I want, that I can't get for free, and that includes every kind of checker for everything - PR, backlinks, crawl metrics, dead links, keyword density, keyword difficulty, keyword suggestion, popular searches, Google Analytics, Yahoo Site Explorer, etc., etc.

I guess that I will never get the "secret knowledge" of those that pay. It doesn't bother me. I derive my "secret" info from all the "buzz" here on the forums, and all the free tools that are offered on the web.

Surf_Dude - I'm really sorry about that. It was totally our mistake. We're working to make it have a better user experience, so non-members who try running it will be asked to log in or create an account, rather than the confusing current message.

We'd love to offer it free to everyone (and did for the first 2 days after release), but it significantly slows down the speed of the tool and hurts accuracy as well, hence the decision to make it semi-private (though free members can still run a report each day).

Many of our tools are still totally free, but I recognize it can be frustrating to have to deal with the paid and membership walls. We do have some plans for some more cool, totally free tools coming this Fall, and of course, our entire blog and UGC section, as well as the vast majority of our guides are still free.

Thanks for the heads up :)

    Hi Rand,

The fact is that I am a big (but quiet) fan. You have done wonders in clearing the air, and establishing facts in the SEO realm. I am particularly impressed with your academic (open-minded) approach to just about every subject. Your conclusions are based upon fact, and well thought out. And your patience with difficult people is unsurpassed.

I guess that I have a little resentment because I am poor. That $50 would be my beer money for the month. Would I have a different attitude if I were flush with cash? Of all the places I could sign up and PAY (yikes) for membership, SEOmoz would be the first. Next, would be AdWords.

    So, when I don't get my freebies, I moan like a . . . oh, well. It's 6PM, time for a beer.
