Travel Site With 1.5k uniques per day. Adsense or Affiliate?

    Hello everyone,

I have a travel site that has about 1.5k uniques per day, and I have been running adsense on it since the beginning. I am wondering if adsense is only paying my the bottom dollar, and if I should put up travel affiliates and receive a % of the sales that come through my website.

Please let me know what you suggest based upon your travel or generic affiliate experience? Thanks for your time.

I would make a slight adjustment in the affiliate market to sort of test the waters. It's very difficult to say and has a lot to do with where your traffic is coming from and what they're looking for.

Well... 100% of the traffic comes from google. They get there by searching {location} vacations, and 1000s of KWs related to this location weekly. So I would think the traffic is OK.

From what I think, you can use both.
Adsense and Affiliates can work along side with each other.

Kayak is very good... if you get this keywords you can show targeted ads and I think they pay also per click...

Also you should offer flight and hotel bookings from your site and there is good ian.com thats expedia affiliate network... also gives you free content and ability to book flights and hotels :)

Plus you can stull run you Adsense :)

i agree with erase. run a little AB test and see which does better. i'd definitely not rule out affiliate stuff - timeshare and travel offers are decently popular now - which sounds like content that'd be pretty relevant to your site.

    good luck

I think if you can promote affiliate programs for travel you could earn much more then with adsense
