i'm new to Amazon, i used it for 2 months last year but gave up due to lots of clicks and NO sales at all.

now, i've a new site about a travel destination and i'll set up tomorrow
a 728px banner (keyword based, runs fine).

    question :

did you experienced any sale using just amazon banners ?
is using Astore or Datafeeds the only way to make some sales ?

i mean, my site is really targeted on a specific location and the books
popping up with the keyword are 100% targeted as well.
do you think i've any hope of selling some books or it's a waste of time ?

It's been mentioned here before, but you might do better by writing an article about the "Five top travel guides for India", for example, and link to the books in the article to Amazon with your affiliate ID.

Additionally, post banners on the site. And make sure to run Amazon Omakase ads. And of course Adsense.

Altogether you might make one or two sales a month. :p

Depending on how you work it, you could do even better.

that's more or less what i had in mind :

it's a page about a famous asian destination with adsense and other CJ banners, technically selling Lonely Planet guides there should be the logical thing but let me say i tried it already months ago on a similar site and made ZERO sales :(

hope this time will get better or i'll trash my amazon account once and for all.

i could try with AbeBooks.com using CJ but their links are really ugly, even using direct links they don't even have images for the book cover and no reviews too... how can i sell that shit ?
