Hey I've started a blogging directory just for ppl abroad, traveling, students, expats etc. But I am having trouble getting signups. As bloggers what makes a directory attractive to sign up for? if you want to check out the directory its www.bloggingabroad.com
Alot will depend on your target market. If you're targetting webmasters it's easy because they KNOW that they need the inbound links. Travellers are a cross section of society and therefore less likely to understand the essentials of SEO. If you are running a directory you need to be adding sites yourself, and promoting your directory in your forum sigs (like here) and in other directories. Here's a bunch of travel forums to get you started. Talk to people like Darren about any cooperative deals you can do.
Thanks Sarah, I definitally hear what you are saying about the majority of travellers not realizing the benifits of seo. I'm trying to appeal to them by saying they will recieve more readers. Coincidentally I actually just bought a ad spot on Darren's site earlier today. I found him through another webmaster forum that I participate at.
