I am not sure if many know about Wayback Machine, a website used to see how a particluar site looked in the past.

I recently came to know about this site, which has archives of sites dating back to 1996 :p You get to browse through 40 billion web pages archived to a few months ago.

To find how yahoo looked in the past, go here http://web.archive.org/web/*/yahoo.com

To start surfing the Wayback, type in the web address of a site or page where you would like to start, and press enter. Then select from the archived dates available. The resulting pages point to other archived pages at as close a date as possible. Keyword searching is not currently supported.

If you are a domainer and want to check the age of a domain, Wayback machine is a nice tool. You could know if a name is being used before. Sometime it explain why some name are getting click for no reason
