Can anybody tell me the easiest way of removing the background of an image......

I am having problems with the logo and headings of my web which appear to have a blue background and i want to remove it.
You can see it at www.hamburgtrip.com/test.htm

Clipping path? Fuzzy select? Whatever happened to the good ol' eraser?

I think the text looks better with the drop shadow, but here:

With something like a semi-transparent drop-shadow it's difficult to select with the magic-wand/fuzzy select-- not that you can't do it, but you have to play with the settings because it will either leave the lightest parts behind or take out part of the letters, unless the setting is just right. I just erased the drop-shadows in Gimp, done.

The site itself-- it has too many seperate pictures. Why one for "hamburg" and another for "trip" and another for the tagline?? It took a good half-minute just to load this one page, and I'm on high-speed internets.
